Consuming Fire of God’s Wrath or Purifying for a homosexual?
After the tragic death of my father, my mother was consumed with grief and fear. The grief was because she missed my father more and more as time passed. The fear was because our finances were overwhelming.
Because of our overwhelming finances, a very caring, kind, compassionate and giving family member moved in our house with us to help with the burden that the lack of proper finances was causing.
This family member was able to help with the burden of our finances but this individual had his/her own heavy burden.
Genesis 1:27-28 – So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.
God has ultimate rule over the earth, and He exercises His authority with loving care. When God delegated some of His authority to the human race, He expected us to take responsibility for the environment and the other creatures that share our planet. We must not be careless and wasteful as we fulfill this charge. God was careful how He made this earth. We must not be careless about how we take care of it.
Genesis 5:1-2 – This is the written account of Adam’s line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them “man”.
God created our world with great care and love and He created each and every person with great worth and value. Psalm 139: 13-16 – For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
God’s character, righteousness, justice, love, faithfulness, etc. goes into the creation of every person. We are created in God’s image so we should have as much respect for ourselves as our Maker has for us.
The heavy burden that this family member was carrying was the path that has created heated arguments and even death threats. Why this family member and several others in my family had chosen this life style is not known.
Focus on the Family has many resources and testimonies about being in the bondage of the homosexual life style and how these individuals have been able to brake free with God’s loving and caring help.
As my mother and I discussed these family members and why they might have chosen this life style, we always came back to the same issue. Each family member had contact with the same member of the family. This family member was harsh in words and deeds. This individual was extremely strict in areas of discipline. My mother recalled times when this individual used the belt to punish a behavior that needed to be corrected with words of understanding not a belt across the back. There was a question of other forms of abuse as well.
During my mother’s childhood, physical and sexual abuse was not talked about. It was kept hidden in the deep dark closet.
Do we love each and every one of these individuals who have chosen the life style of a homosexual? Yes, but that does not erase the cold hard fact that life here on earth is very short and there is a final judgment.
God cannot overlook sin. Sinners, no matter how many excuses they make, will have to answer to God for their sin. God does not take pleasure in destroying the wicked, but He must punish sin. He is both just and merciful. We should be thankful that God’s mercy extends to us.
Genesis 18:16 -33, 19:1-29; 19:24,27-29 – Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah – from the Lord out of the heavens… Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the Lord. He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace. So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11, v-11- And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Several of the family members that followed the homosexual life style are dead. I do not know if they came to God and asked for His forgiveness and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior before they died.
God created each and every human being with a God size hole in their heart. God is the only individual that can fill this hole. No amount of prosperity, popularity, power, pleasure or prestige can fill what is meant for God and only God.
Our life’s journey on earth is nothing more than a dash. Our journey does not end here on earth. We will either continue our life with God in Heaven or live in the consuming fire of hell with Satan and his fallen angels. My prayer for all who read this post will make the decision to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and spend eternity with Jesus, and our loved ones that also have Jesus Christ as their personal Savior walking on streets of gold.
