Judges 6:12 – And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, Gideon, and said to him, The Lord is with you, you mighty man of, fearless, courage.
Bobby and I enjoy hiking but not just any hiking, waterfalls. Our hiking quest is always in search of outstanding waterfalls. We have hiked many of the norms, Abrams at Cades Cove, Vogel, several around Vogel State Park, but we have such a thirst for out of the norm waterfalls.
Our pilgrimage on this earth can resemble many different forms. We can relate to our journey as being in a boat on the calm waters but suddenly dark hovering clouds producing lighting, thunder, and hurricane winds come out of nowhere seeking to capsize our boat with us in it.
Another form of our traveling this pilgrimage of life may mirror taking a road trip. When finances were and are limited, Bobby and I enjoy just hitting the open road to see where the bends, twists, and turns will take us. Our natural GPS system usually takes us to the North Georgia Mountains or the Great Smokey Mountains.
There are times of great anguish and sorrow in our hearts because of the affliction of an adversary. In these times of emotional distress, God’s voice can be heard in His Word to guide us in these heartbreaking times.
1 Samuel 1:1-20 – v-6-7 – And because the Lord had closed her womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her. This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the Lord, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat.
Proverbs 20:9 – Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin”?
No one is without sin. As soon as we confess our sin and repent, sinful thoughts and actions begin to creep back into our lives. Thank God that He provides forgiveness and ongoing cleansing moment by moment with His grace and mercy when we ask for it.
When the winds, lightning, and thunder of adversity started shaking the ground beneath our feet, Bobby and I took cover in the only place and with the only person that could and would carry us through the forceful assault.
Today is a loved ones birthday. This loved one has not had the opportunity to know Bobby and me but we love this one deep in the center of our hearts.
When the raging storms started January 2013, God provided us with several Scriptures to stand firmly on. As time has marched on and the intensity of the storms has at times threatened to drown us, God has provided the shelter of His loving arms to shield us.
During the summer, it is magical to watch a storm coming from the horizon. In the distance, you can see the lightning dancing across the sky making the sky light up as if there were thousands of lights shining all over.
However, as the storm comes closer and closer there is nothing exciting about it anymore. The lightning is striking on the ground all around and the trees are popping, cracking and tumbling down. The winds have become hurricane force winds tearing and whirling everything that dares get in the way or stop it. After the storm has passed by, the destruction and devastation caused by the storm will take month’s maybe years to rebuild.
Cinderella, our fictional character that was created through Walt Disney’s imagination did go from the palace to the dungeon to the palace with her Prince. With the help from her magical friends, she was able to overcome the evil of her wicked step-mother and her two cruel step-sisters.
However, Jezebel is not a fictional character created by the imagination of any human. God’s Word is as honest about the lives of the heroes as it about those who rejected Him.
The Lord’s heartbeat says leave retaliation, vengeance, and avenger to Him!
The last train to leave the station climbing up the mountain of persecution is the train of obeying the Lord’s heartbeat. Romans 12:17, 19 – Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for Gods wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge, I will repay,” says the Lord.
The passenger on the train of seeking the Lord’s heartbeat through obedience had freedom from a heavy load of bitterness, unforgiveness, and resentment. On the other side of the tracks, on the trains of retaliation and avenger the passengers Cain, Samson, Ahab, and Jezebel were consumed with bitterness, unforgiveness and resentment. They paid an enormous price for their train tickets for their ride on the trains of retaliation and avenger.
