Forgiveness, Seeking The Lord’s Heartbeat

Confess, Repent

God’s Word still applies to our lives even today. His Word reveals who we are and what we are not. There is nothing left out of God’s Word. We see the good, bad and the ugly.

Hebrews 4:12-13 – For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Grandmother’s, Mother’s, Seeking The Lord’s Heartbeat

Bobby’s Grandmother, My Mother

As our storm continues to blow the rain and wind from all directions, Bobby and I have a sure and stable GPS from God’s Word that gives us clear and precise directions no matter whether the rain and wind is causing us to steer forward or making us go through another detour.

Bobby’s Grandmother was a woman who weathered many difficult storms in her life. She was not an individual that pulled you up in her lap and wrapped her arms around you but she was an individual that said love in so many other ways.

Parents, Seeking The Lord’s Heartbeat

Legacy

May brings a time of many memories as well as much sorrow for us. Dad went home to be with the Lord, May 10, 1966. Bobby’s caring grandmother also went home to be with the Lord, May 1981.  Mother’s Day is observed on or near one or both of these days, also my mother is no longer with us but with the Lord.

The legacy that each has passed down is what helps take the memories and sorrows and wraps them all together. The tears that fall down our faces are bitter and sweet.

Nature, Seeking The Lord’s Heartbeat

God’s Creation and His Word reveal His Greatness

Recently, Bobby and I had an opportunity to answer a calling to the mountains. Our favorite place to go for that calling is Vogel State Park.

Vogel State Park is beautifully nestled at the base of Blood Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest near Blairsville, Georgia.  The clear crisp streams, creeks, lake and waterfall brings a quiet calmness to our souls and reminds us that God is in complete control of our lives as well as His creation.

Beauty, Seeking The Lord’s Heartbeat

True Beauty

Where does true beauty start?

Does true beauty start with the face? Mary Kay, Avon, Cover Girl, and countless other cosmetic companies that produce product after product would have all to believe that their products hold the secret to true beauty.

What about the clothes we wear? Abercrombie and Fitch, Adidas, Levi Strauss and other brand name clothing companies, will they give us the beauty we are so desperately looking for?

Is diamonds and other priceless stones truly a girl’s best friend?

Illuminated by Seeking The Lord’s Heartbeat

Trials That Examine Our Faith

Bobby and I have been in a bottomless mournful place since January 2013. We have struggled, wrestled, cried, yelled, prayed, and fasted to move heaven and earth for answers from God to understand why He has allowed three different strong raging violent storms to come upon us all at the same time.

In reading Dr. Stanley’s Devotion for January 16, 2017, Testing Builds Endurance, Dr. Stanley asked this question, “ Why Would A Loving Heavenly Father allow His children to go through terrible trials and experience sorrow?” When I read this question, it flooded my soul of a past bitter sweet trial that examined my faith and reminded me that God is trustworthy to see me through all my raging storms whether I caused them or not.

Seeking The Lord’s Heartbeat brings Restoration

Restored Peter

Were Judas or Peter flawless men? Am I a flawless person? The Christian life is a process of becoming more and more like Christ. In the process of becoming, we must overcome.

Sometimes what we are tempted to do is not wrong in itself. Eve wanted to be like God. This is humanity’s highest goal. However, Satan misled Eve concerning the right way to accomplish this goal. He told her that she could become more like God by defying God’s authority, by taking God’s place and deciding for herself what was best for her life. Satan told her to become her own god.

Was Judas Seeking the Lord’s Heartbeat?

Hypocrite, Judas

Am I a true disciple and follower of Christ, or am I an uncommitted pretender?

It has been over three painful, heart breaking, years since someone I love dearly has called me a hypocrite and other cutting hurtful words. As I unfolded the letter that this individual wrote, I was frozen. I could not believe that I was reading this type of letter from this individual. The words that were in this letter could not be from this person.

The cutting words not only stabbed my heart but it was the statement after the cutting words that have torn my heart into a million pieces. I was told that our relationship could not be restored. There was no explanation for either the cutting words or for our relationship to be cut.

Listening for The Lord’s Heartbeat

The Purpose of Purifying

In the process of refining metals, the raw metal is heated with fire until it melts. The impurities separate from it and rise to the surface. They are skimmed off leaving the pure metal. Without this heating and melting, there would be no purifying. As the impurities are skimmed off the top, the reflection of the worker appears in the smooth pure surface. As we are purified by God, His reflection in our lives will become more and more clear.

1 Peter 1:6-7In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith, of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire, may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Rejection, Fear, Anxiety, Uncertainty or Seeking The Lord’s Heartbeat

Rejection or Fear, Anxiety, Uncertain

When my mother told my father that she was pregnant with their third child, Monica Dale Staples, he told her that she just had a bad cold. I did come into the world with bronchial problems and I have had them all my life.

Was my father rejecting me, Monica Dale Staples, even before I was born? Did fear, anxiety, and uncertainty play more a part in this script then rejection?
