God’s Word is amazing! The Word of God shows the good, bad and ugly of all humans. God hides nothing. He exposes the details of our strengths as well as the dirt and grit of our blemishes.
Ruth 1:20-21 – “Don’t call me Naomi,” she told them. “Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.”
Recently, Bobby and I had an opportunity to answer a calling to the mountains. Our favorite place to go for that calling is Vogel State Park.
Vogel State Park is beautifully nestled at the base of Blood Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest near Blairsville, Georgia. The clear crisp streams, creeks, lake and waterfall brings a quiet calmness to our souls and reminds us that God is in complete control of our lives as well as His creation.

Today is a loved ones birthday. This loved one has not had the opportunity to know Bobby and me but we love this one deep in the center of our hearts.
When the raging storms started January 2013, God provided us with several Scriptures to stand firmly on. As time has marched on and the intensity of the storms has at times threatened to drown us, God has provided the shelter of His loving arms to shield us.
Walking the Christian life is not for cowards. Each time my mother battled her cancer, God provided strength to endure and challenging opportunities to grow in my walk with Him.
The lesson about my mother’s cancer showed me that what we see on the surface is not what is on the inside. Just as the cancer inside my mother’s body was not visible, what is in someone’s heart is not visible. In the same way, what we see in a photo is not always showing the whole truth but what appears to be.
Hebrews 4: 12-13, For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
God continually shows me that what is in the dark will come to the light sooner or later, whether it is my own actions and attitudes or others actions and attitudes. God is a God of love, compassion, mercy, and justice. He will not allow sin to continue in any of His children’s hearts.
Were Judas or Peter flawless men? Am I a flawless person? The Christian life is a process of becoming more and more like Christ. In the process of becoming, we must overcome.
Sometimes what we are tempted to do is not wrong in itself. Eve wanted to be like God. This is humanity’s highest goal. However, Satan misled Eve concerning the right way to accomplish this goal. He told her that she could become more like God by defying God’s authority, by taking God’s place and deciding for herself what was best for her life. Satan told her to become her own god.
Am I a true disciple and follower of Christ, or am I an uncommitted pretender?
It has been over three painful, heart breaking, years since someone I love dearly has called me a hypocrite and other cutting hurtful words. As I unfolded the letter that this individual wrote, I was frozen. I could not believe that I was reading this type of letter from this individual. The words that were in this letter could not be from this person.
The cutting words not only stabbed my heart but it was the statement after the cutting words that have torn my heart into a million pieces. I was told that our relationship could not be restored. There was no explanation for either the cutting words or for our relationship to be cut.
We all know that there are consequences to any action we take. What we do can set into motion a series of events that may continue long after we are gone. Unfortunately, when we are making a decision most of us think only of the immediate consequences. These are often misleading because they are short-lived.
Jeremiah 17: 9-10 – The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve.
