John 1:5 – The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

Two years after the tragic death of my father, my mother sat me down and told me that she had cancer. This was news that turned our feet toward God not away from Him. My mother did not blame God for my father’s tragic death neither did she blame God for cancer.
James 4:8 – Come near to God and he will come near to you.

As we traveled down into the Church of Compromise, we could see along the entrance there were strong lamp stands of Perseverance and eloquent columns of Hard Work all which represented the Lord’s heartbeat.
However, on the inside the shepherd had tolerated lies and deception for a long time and he had become part of the major problem as well. He was no longer protecting the sheep from the ravaging wolves but had been deceived himself. He was making excuses for the repetitive sins that were happening and wanted to close a blind eye to the truth. He no longer held firmly to the trustworthy doctrine and refuted those who opposed it. He was unable to hear the Lord’s heartbeat because of the repetitive sins that he was tolerating.
When the body of believers begins to tolerate sin in the church, the church is no longer listening to the Lord’s heartbeat. It is lowering the standards and compromising the church’s witness.
