My Beloved Uncle
Our journey here on earth can be just a few years or our life can be over many decades. My dear caring, compassionate Uncle’s life’s journey here on this earth has expanded over eighty three years.
We can allow the storms and the deep dark valley experiences in our lives to make us bitter, resentful, unforgiving and hateful or we can allow the twists, turns, ups, downs, pains, disappointments and heart breaks to turn our hearts to God for Him to comfort us and in return use us to comfort others.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
Being comforted does not mean that our pain, disappointments or troubles will disappear, comforting means receiving strength, encouragement, and hope to deal with the storms and deep dark valleys we experience.
My Uncle’s pilgrimage on this earth has been one of many turns, twists, detours, valleys, and mountain tops. At times, he could have allowed his pain and disappointments to turn him into an individual that resembled those troubled times here on this earth, but he used his troubles to turn to God and help others.
May 30, 2017 at 10:35 am, Joseph Russell Garner finished his earthly course. 2 Timothy 4:6-8 For I, J.R. Garner, already poured out like a drink offering and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Matthew 25: 14-30, v-20-21 – The man, J.R. Garner, who had received the five talents brought the other five. “Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.’ “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
