Darkness, Seeking The Lord’s Heartbeat

Darkness Cannot Exist in the LIGHT

John 1:5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

The darkness of evil never has and never will overcome or extinguish God’s Light. My mind tells me this every day. However, this extremely long dark tunnel Bobby and I have been in since January 2013 is trying to convince me otherwise.

1 John 1:5 – This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

Light represents what is good, pure, true, holy, and reliable. Light is also related to truth in that light exposes whatever exists, whether it is good or bad. Darkness represents what is sinful and evil. In the dark, good and evil look alike but in the light good and evil can be clearly distinguished.

During my beloved uncle’s funeral, God not only extinguished the darkness of death because Christ overcame death at the cross, but He exposed the darkness of jealousy, pride and arrogance.

Romans 12:3 – For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

As Bobby and I were sitting in the van waiting on the police escort to take my uncle’s body from the funeral home to the church for the funeral, the Presence of God became so strong that I felt His loving arms around me. He was not only comforting me about my uncle but He was speaking to me about several individuals who have for years wanted to “pick the place of honor”.

Luke 14: 7-14 – When he, Jesus, noticed how the guests picked the place of honor at the table, he told them this parable: “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this man your seat.’ Then humiliated, you will have to take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all your fellow guests. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

These individuals are looking for prestige, honor, and exalting themselves while trying to give the appearance of being humble but they are manipulators, flatterers and liars.

During this time, God showed me clearly that He had humbled one individual and He was working on exposing the others as well.

Psalm 37: 7, 12-13 – Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their way, when they carry out their wicked schemes. The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.

Galatians 6:7-8Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

My beloved uncle is in heaven with his Lord and Savior. He sowed to please the Spirit, so from the Spirit reaped eternal life. However, for the individuals who want to ‘pick the place of honor’, and mock God, they are going to reap destruction. They have sowed to please their sinful nature.

Darkness can never overcome LIGHT! 2 Corinthians 4:6 – For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
